Funeral services were held at the Melvin United Methodist Church on July 5 at 10:30 a.m. for Grace Graves, 88, who died July 2 at the hospital in Sibley. Rev. Paul Hansen officiated. Interment was in Baker township cemetery at Melvin with Sanborn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Grace Jobes, the daughter of John F. and Flora Jobes was born in Melvin on Nov. 1, 1889. She lived her youth and attended elementary school in Melvin and graduated from high school in Puyallup, Wash. She returned to Melvin and taught in this vicinity.

She was united in marriage to Lou Graves on Feb. 14, 1912 at Melvin. Their entire married life was lived in Melvin. She entered the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley on May 20, 1978.

She is survived by one son, Gerald, of Melvin; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, May Taylor, of Portland, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers and three sisters.

She was a member of the Melvin United Methodist Church, the Royal Neighbors, the Federated Women's Club and the United Methodist Women.
