Funeral services for Louie G. Graves were conducted at Melvin United Methodist Church of Melvin Monday, Dec. 21, 1970 at 10:30 a.m. Clergyman was Rev. Willis Thurow. Organist was Mrs. Arnold Stradinger, and Mrs. Hilda Benz was in charge of flowers.

Louis G. Graves, son of Hans and Minnie (Rhode) Graves was born near Melvin on February 15, 1885. He lived his youth and attended rural school in this vicinity. He was united in marriage to Grace Jobes on February 14, 1912 at Pipestone, Minn. Their entire married life was lived in the Melvin vicinity.

Mr. Graves was taken to the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital at Sioux City the morning of December 17, 1970 and passed away at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 2 days.

He is survived by his wife, Grace, of Melvin, one son, Gerald of Melvin; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, William of Melvin; and one sister, Carlena (Mrs. Harmon Hitchcock) also of Melvin. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and two sisters.

He was a member of the Melvin United Methodist Church of Melvin.

Casketbearers were Jay Graves, Terry Graves, Tom Graves, John Schuett, Philiph Stimson and David Peters.

Interment was in Baker Township Cemetery, Melvin, Iowa. Sanborn Funeral Home Service in charge of arrangements.
