OBITUARY

Daniel Webster Clayton died at his home in Sibley, Friday, February, 8, 1901. He had long been a sufferer from tumor of the brain and it had been known that he could not recover, but he had been so well of late that death seemed remote. Numerous trips to Sioux City, Dakota and Chicago were taken for consultation but no help could be given. On last Thursday there was a sudden change for the worse after which he never rallied. Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal church. Interment took place in Sibley cemetery.

Mr Clayton was born in Waupaca county, Wisconsin, December 15, 1852. In 1883 he came to Butler county, Iowa, where he lived until 1878, when he moved with his family to a farm in Osceola county. Since that time the family has lived for two years in Little Rock, where be engaged in the Implement and livery business. In March, 1898, they moved to Sibley, where they have resided since.

To Mr. and Mrs. Clayton five obildren have been born, three girls and two boys, all of whom are living at home.

Relatives present from afar were J. W. Clayton, brother; J. A. Riley, brother-In-law; both of Greenville, Iowa, and Miss Sylvia Clayton, niece, from West Bend, Iowa.

Deceased was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and during his Illness was greatly comforted by his strong faith. The family loses a loving husband and father and the community loses a good citizen.
