MRS. ELIZABETH CLAYTON FORMER RESIDENT DIES
Mrs. Elizabeth Clayton who was a resident of Sibley many years died at Cherokee Thursday, April 30th. She had been an invalid for many years, but had not been seriously ill until Monday proceeding her death. which was due to kidney trouble.
Elizabeth Carney was born in New York state April 9, 1863 and was 73 years and a few days old at the time of her death.
As a small child she moved with her parents to Wisconsin ln 1868 and from there to Aplington, Iowa In 1868, at which place she was married to Daniel W. Clayton In 1874. coming to Osceola county in 1876 where; they settled on a farm in Goeway township. They moved to Sibley some years later where her husband passed away in 1901. She remained in Sibley for a number of years and raised her family
The remains were brought to Sibley Saturday. the funeral being held at the Methodist church, the. Rev. (Unreadable) officiating, Interment was made In the Sibley cemetery. The children are Luella Kyrk, Deodie Jarrott, Maude Dummier, Walter and Paul Clayton, who attended the funeral. The brothers and sisters are George Carney, James Carney, Susie Tillman. Mary Van Sky,..and Agnes Gillis.
