Funeral services were held on Wednesday Nov. 15 in St. Andrew’s Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. for Peter F. Malone, age 64, who died on Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Osceola Community Hospital. Burial was in St. Andrew’s Cemetery at Sibley. Walton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He was born on Sept. 6, 1908, at Emory, S. Dak., the son of Peter F. and Sydney Whited Malone. He graduated from Plankington High School at Plankington, S. Dak., in 1926.
On Dec. 11, 1939, he was united in marriage to Grace Burnetta McElroy at Sibley. The lived in Worthington, Minn., for a year; then moved to Melvin, for two years, then in 1943 to Sibley where he lived until his death. Mr. Malone served in the U. S. Army in the Pacific Area during World War 2.
He is survived by his wife; Burnetta; and two children Gayle (Mrs. John Hanson) of Fresno, Calif., and Michael of Spirit Lake; six grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Ardean Anderson of Aberdeen, S. Dak., and one brother Martin Malone of Sioux Falls, S. Dak. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
