PASSED AWAY AT HIS
HOME ON MONDAY

Martin H. Winters passed away at his farm home northeast of Spirit Lake at 4 o'clock Monday morning. Mr. Winters had been in failing health for some time, and recently had been a patient in the Mountain Lake hospital where it was found that there was no help for his condition. He was returned to his home a week before his death where kind hands ministered to his needs.

Mr. Winters was born on March 7, 1870, to Mr. and Mrs. John Winters in Chickasaw county. He passed away October 7, 1946.

On January 20, 1892, he was married to Miss Agnes Logan at Waterloo. Five daughters were born to this union, three of whom preceded him in death. His wife, Agnes, died April 13, 1899.

On December 25, 1900, he was married to Miss Sadie Boyer of Lake Park, Iowa. They lived for a number of years near Harris in Osceola county until 1935 when they moved to a farm southwest of Spirit Lake in Dickinson county. Seven years later they moved to a farm which they bought northeast of Spirit Lake. His early life was spent in Chickasaw and Black Hawk counties.

He was a good husband and father and enjoyed life to the fullest.

When a young man he joined the Methodist church at Harris, Iowa. In recent years he has been a follower of the faith of Jehovah's Witnesses.

He leaves to mourn his departure his loving wife, Mrs. Sadie Winters; three sons, Harold M. Winters, Harris, Iowa; Cecil B. Winters, Redwood Falls, Minn.; Verlyn F. Winters on the home farm--five daughters, Mrs. Floy Bauermeister and Mrs. Agnes Beck, of Ocheyedan, Iowa; Mrs. Vera Dannaman of Sibley, Iowa, and Anna Faye and Evelyn Wilma, at home; two daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law; nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

The funeral was held this Thursday afternoon from the Donovan Funeral Home in Spirit Lake and was conducted by Rev. Stevens of Sioux Falls, S.D. Burial was made in the cemetery at Ocheyedan.
