Phyllis Dunn, age 87 formerly of Sibley, IA, died Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, IA.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 12th at United Methodist Church in Harris, IA, with Reverend Karl Watkins officiating.

Burial will follow in Union Cemetery at Harris.

Phyllis May Dunn was born on January 7, 1927 in Hartley, IA, the daughter of William and Nellie (Dather) Zahn. She grew up in the Hartley area and her family later moved to Harris, where she graduated from Harris High School.

On October 22, 1949, Phyllis was united in marriage to Howard Dunn at Harris, IA. Following their marriage they lived in Sioux City, IA before moving to live at Harris, IA for a short time. They moved to Sibley in 1955 and lived in Rock Rapids for a time then moved back to Sibley in 1963.

Throughout Phyllis' life she worked for Wincharger in Sioux City, IA, Sibley Egg & Poultry, Sibley Library and Upper Des Moines in Sibley.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the church Women's Guild. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Sibley.

Phyllis liked to volunteer at the church, care centers and Head start. She enjoyed walking, caring for her flowers, coffee with friends, refunding coupons and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Phyllis is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Dee (Keith) Klaassen of Harris, IA; Roxie (Clark) Reekers of Lake Park, IA and Candy (Rod) Robinson of Humboldt, IA along with ten grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean Keim of Loveland, CO; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; one brother, Leland Zahn; one sister, Kay Nattress; grandson, Jordan Robinson; and great-grandson, Carter Lewis.
