Mary Margaret "Me-Me" Cox, age 91 of Sibley, IA died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at her home in Sibley, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Thursday, June 10th at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley, with Father John Vakulskas officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery in Sibley.

There will be a rosary at 5:00 PM and a vigil service at 7:30 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Mary Margaret Cox was born on March 8, 1919, the daughter of Arthur and Bridget V. (Sharp) Bell in Colfax, Iowa. She grew up in Colfax and graduated high school from there.

Following her graduation she taught country school for a time. As a young girl Mary Margaret lived down the street from a handsome young man that raised Scotties. She enjoyed using the dogs as a reason to meet him.

On February 18, 1943, she married this handsome man named Robert (Bob) Cox in Bethany, MO. The couple lived in Colfax, IA for nine years, Hawarden, IA for four years and Sibley, IA for fifty-four years.

To this union two daughters Diana and Cindy were born. Mary Margaret was a KIWA News Announcer in Sibley for thirty years and did correspondence for the Worthington Daily Globe.

She was an active member of the St. Andrews Catholic Church, where she served as the religious education coordinator for twenty-one years and member of the Catholic Daughters.

She was also a member of the ILAA Board (Iowa Lakes Agency of the Aging), an honorary member of the FFA and a proud member of the Republican Party.

Mary Margaret loved to play Bridge and other card games and gave classes teaching many how to play Bridge.

She was also an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, emailing friends and relative and making greeting cards on her computer and spending time at Lake Okoboji.

Mary Margaret was very devoted to her community, family and her beloved dog, Pepper.

Mary Margaret is survived by two daughters, Diana (husband, Gary) Whidden of Cleburne, TX and Cindy (husband, Bruce) Harper of Sibley, IA; three grandchildren, Steven (wife, Barb) Schuck of Cherokee, IA, Jaymie (wife, Kelly) Harper of Sioux Center, IA and Joel (wife, Ciara) Whidden of Westport, CT; ten great-grandchildren, Krista (husband, Anthony) Miller, Kayla and Kyle Schuck, Cassie, Shelby and Blake Harper, Hannah, Sophie, Emma and James Whidden; three great-great-grandchildren, Kael and Kaitlyn Miller and Taelyn Reuter; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert L. Cox; and four brothers, Tony, Harry, Artie and Elmer Bell.
