Harold Bell, age 93, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, formerly of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at the Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 19, 2007, at 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Ocheyedan. Rev. Douglas Harding officiating.

Burial in the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery.

Harold Bell was born on April 22, 1913, in Allison Township, Osceola County. He was the son of Elzie Noah and Alice Ann (Bigley) Bell. He lived his youth in rural Ocheyedan, where he attended school, helped on the family farm and helped farmers in the area.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945, in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater. He was honorably discharged.

He married Rosella Krogman of Ashton, Iowa, in 1945, in Luverne, Minnesota. They lived in Ocheyedan, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where Harold worked for John Morrell & Co. for seven years. They returned to Ocheyedan and purchased an acreage. He worked for Sibley Concrete for 18 years. After retiring, he worked for the county for three summers. Rosella passed away on September 7, 1971.

He married Bernadette (Mc Carty) Krogman of Sheldon, Iowa, on September 12, 1972. They enjoyed traveling together.

He was a member of the American Legion in Ocheyedan for over 50 years.

Harold enjoyed spending time with his family.

He passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at the Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife: Bernadette Bell of Spirit Lake, IA; three step-children and their families: Vern and Mary Kay Lockman of Shelby, NE, James and Maya Krogman of Urbandale, IA, Nancy Hintz of Casper, WY; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; one sister: Florence Gee of Ocheyedan, IA; Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Rosella; three sisters: Ruth Brehmer, Dorothy Anderson, Lela Wiese; five brothers: Arnold Bell, Milo Bell, Lee Bell, Cecil Bell, Emil Bell.
