Stanley Eldon Jansen
(June 4, 1943 - December 27, 2012)

Stanley “Stan” Jansen age 69 of Sibley, IA died Thursday December 27, 2012 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, IA.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012 at the First Reformed Church in Sibley, with Al Honken officiating.

Burial will follow in the Baker Township Cemetery in Melvin, IA.

Stanley Eldon Jansen was born June 4, 1943 in Spirit Lake, Iowa to Eldon and Arloween (Voss) Jansen. He was raised and received his education in Sioux Valley, Minnesota. Stan was united in marriage to Karen Kay Roede on November 26, 1971 in Melvin, Iowa. The couple made their home in Sibley. Stan worked for the Associated Milk Producers “AMPI” for 35 years. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and attending as many of their activities as he could. He could be found driving up and down gravel roads looking for wildlife, crops in the field, and farm machinery. He enjoyed going out for coffee and eating out. He liked to play cards, farkle, and marbles with his family and friends. Nascar and watching the Vikings was a pastime he also enjoyed. He could meet a stranger and by the next day they were old friends. Most of all he enjoyed working for farmers in the spring and fall. He was a farmer at heart, but loved being a grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Jansen of Sibley; daughter, Julie (Mike) Steichen of Sibley, IA; son, Jim (Kim) Jansen of Tecumseh, NE; 4 grandchildren, Branigan and Carson Steichen; and Matthew and Madison Jansen; sister, Sandra Widdel of Round Lake, MN; and brother, Marlo Jansen and fiancé Sherry of Harris, IA; and several other extended family and friends.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Arloween Jansen; sister, Sharyl Curtis; brothers, Steven and Stuart; and brother-in-law, Gary Widdel.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 30th from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.
