(February 13, 1917 - March 26, 2012)

Victor O. Augsburger age 95 of Sibley, IA died Monday, March 26, 2012 at Sibley Nursing & Rehab Center in Sibley, IA.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Friday, March 30th at Zoar Presbyterian Church in George, IA, with Rev. Dale Lint officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church Friday morning.

Victor O. Augsburger was born February 13, 1917 in Bluffton, Ohio, the son of Elias and Fannie (Steffen) Augsburger. He graduated from Bluffton High School. Victor then attended Moody Bible Institute, Aurora College and McCormick Theological Seminary before finishing his education at Harvard Divinity School where he received his Master of Sacred Theology Degree.

On October 30, 1938 Victor was married to Mary Jane Ross in Princeton, IL. In 1949 he entered the United States Air Force, serving as Chaplin in England and was honorably discharged in 1954. He and Mary Jane served pastorates at the First Presbyterian Church in Biloxi, MS, Zoar Presbyterian Church, George, IA, First Presbyterian Church, Sun City, AZ, and Faith Presbyterian Church, Lennox, SD. In 1985 Victor and Mary Jane retired to Sun City, AZ.

On November 24, 1997 Victor’s wife Mary Jane died after 59 years of marriage. On March 20, 1998 Victor married Ethel Trei at Sun City, AZ. Victor’s health began to decline as a result of cancer. In 2008 they moved to Sibley, IA. Victor and Ethel shared a love for music. After losing his eyesight, singing hymns from memory was something they did every day. In 2009 Victor entered the Sibley Nursing & Rehab Center in Sibley, IA, where he remained until his death this past Monday, March 26, 2012 at the age of 95.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Ethel Augsburger of Sibley, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elias and Fannie Augsburger; his first wife, Mary Jane Augsburger; six brothers, Alvin, Hiram, Elias Jr., Paul, Bill and James Augsburger; five sisters, Dinah, Helen, Martha, Elvina and Ella.
