Della Marie Kruckenberg
March 2, 1921 - March 16, 2012
Della Marie Kruckenberg, the daughter of Silas Frank and Della Ida (Borland) Steele, was born on March 2, 1921, in Sutherland, IA, where she was raised and received her early education, graduating from Sutherland High School in 1941.

On September 1, 1949, Della married Herbert Kruckenberg, in Hartley, IA. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm northeast of Sutherland. Della loved living on the farm and raising her family. She worked as a nurse's aide in the nursing homes in Sutherland, Cherokee and Primghar. In her younger years, she enjoyed having a big garden and canning a lot of tomatoes. She was a great cook. Della loved spending time with her friends having lunch and coffee.

Della passed away on March 16, 2012, at the Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon, IA, where she has been living the last 5 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers: Harold and Silas Steele; one sister, Ruth Gillespie; and sister-in-law, Maxine Steele.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Lillian Mastbergen and husband, James of Sheldon, IA, and Carol Johnson and husband, Richard of Oelwein, IA; two sons: Rodney and Neal and his wife, Robin of George, IA; 5 grandchildren: Tracey (Aaron) Kilts, Jason Mastbergen, Nicholas Stettnichs, Cody Kruckenberg and Nicole (Shane) Klaassen; 7 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Steele of Hartley, IA; brother-in-law, Wayne Gillespie of Hartley, IA, sisters-in-law, Doris Steele of Sutherland, IA and Phylis Steele of Aberdeen, SD; other relatives and many friends.
