Lizzie was born in New York and adopted to the Harter's along with her brother. She was born in about 1878-1879. She lived in Guttenberg, Iowa where she was adopted.
We were always told she was brought out West on an orphan train. Is it possible she was adopted out of Dubuque or another town/county, around 1893-1896?
