George H. Reed

REED

I am looking for any information on my great-grandfather, George H(oward) Reed, who I suspect was an orphan train rider. We know he was born in Vermont, and that before he married my great-grandmother he came from Iowa. The 1870 US Census has a George H. Reed, age 19, listed as a "farm laborer" in Cerro Gordo County, IA, living with the Mores (sp?) family.

I believe that is my great-grandfather, for a variety of reasons, but have no way to prove that link. If anyone has any information on the George H. Reed listed in the 1870 US Census - origin, whether or not he was on an orphan train, name(s) of his parents or other family members, etc. - I would love to hear from you.
