I've been trying to locate some information about my grandfather for several years. We are not sure of his name....Rudolph Banes. We do think he came from the Czech Republic and, possibly as an orphan. Family stories include his mother died shortly after his birth and his father was in prison for killing a Russian soldier that raped his mother. We think he was shipped to the US with a group of orphans from the Cz Rep. He was taken in by the Vencil Pronek family--we think in Tama County--along with another boy by the name of Arnost Zach. If anyone knows anything about Rudolph, please let me know. He is buried in the Vining National Cemetary, Vining, IA.
