Services in memory of Robert E. Hansen were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 1997, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. Rev. Milo Sheldon officiated. Sanborn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Eugene Hansen, the son of Albert and Alvian (Weber) Hansen, was born at Iowa Falls, Iowa, on September 27, 1932. He lived his youth in the Hartley community and he graduated from Hartley High School in 1950.

He was united in marriage to Florence Soop on December 10, 2950 at Saint Andrews United Methodist Church in Sanborn. With the exception of five years, Bob and Florence made their home in Hartley. Bob was an underwrier for New York Life Insurance for more than twenty years, retiring in 1989 due to health problems. He died at Northrwest Iowa Health Center at Sheldon on November 15, 1997.

Bob is survived by his wife, Florence of Hartley; his children: Richard, Robert, Russell, Randall,; three granddaughters: Tara, Rachel and Katie; his mother, Alvivna Hansen of Hartley; one brother, James, of Des Moines; and one sister, Margerty Hildreth of Hartley.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Bob was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ at Hartley, Beacon Masonic Lodge No. 495, the Scottish Rite, Northwester Association of Life Underwriters, and a lifetime member of the Hartley Chamber of commerce.
