Mrs. Mary Lantz, the daughter of John Kiel and his wife Henrietta, nee Passehl, was born on November 26, 1884 at Chicago.
On June 15, 1900, she was married to William Schroeder, the ceremony being performed by Pastor Oscar Horn. Three sons and three daughters were born to them.
In 1921, she was married for the second time to Charles f. Lantz, who preceded her in death in 1933.
During most of her life, Mrs. Lantz lived in this community except that for a few years she lived in Woodbury County and about 11 years with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Walters at Moneta.
Mrs. Lantz had been in poor health for a number of years. On Tuesday morning of last week, she suffered a stroke which led to here death in the early afternoon of the same day. She was 66 years, 2 months, and 25 days of age.
She is survived by her daughters,, Amanda (Mrs. Ed. Walters), Moneta, and Louise (Mrs Theodore Shearer) of Paullina, and Loretta (Mrs. John Thiessen) of Everly and her sons John Schroeder of Paullina and Robert Schroeder of Hartley, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and her sister, Minnie (Mrs Charles Peters) of Hartley.
Her son William preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 22 at 2:00 pm at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment was in Prairie View Cemetery with the Rev. Martin Peters officiating.
