Anna Mews Services Held

Mrs. August Mews, 90, of Paullina, died Thursday, April 6 at the Wide View Rest Home in Paullina.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Donald Johnson officiating. Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery under direction of the Gaudian Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Eugene Rehder, Vernon Niebuhr, Robert Niebuhr, Reginald Hain, Dean Pottebaum and Donald Richter. Mrs. Clarence Hibbing was organist and accompanied the congregation as two hymns were sung.

Mrs. Mews, the former Anna Haese, was born June 17, 1887, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She spent her youth in the Milwaukee area and was married to August Mews on August 11, 1908, in Milwaukee. The couple farmed in the Paullina area from 1909 until 1940 when Mr. Mews died. In 1963 she retired and moved to Paullina, entering the nursing home several years ago.

Survivors include four daughters; Mrs. Alfred (Hertha) Niebuhr, Mrs. Herbert (Ruth) Kinese [Kniese], Mrs. Ray (Ivadell) Niebuhr and Mrs. Raymond (Stella) Rehder, all of Paullina; a son, Marvin of Hornick; 13 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Miss Lillian Haese of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Carl (Olga) Akeson of Primghar: and a brother, Bill of Milwaukee.
