Elsie Mae Rohwer

Funeral services for Elsie Rohwer were held at 10:30 'Monday, December 22, 2003, at First Presbyterian Church, Paullina, Iowa with Rev. Donald Freeman Officiating. Congregational hymns were "In the Garden" and "How Great Thou Art" The organist was Kay Grosvenor Casket bearers were Scott Rohwer, James Rohwer, Steve Rohwer, and Jerry Rohwer. Nathaniel Rohwer and Jeremy Rohwer. Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery, Paullina, Iowa. Arrangements were under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

Elsie Mae Rohwer, the daughter of Arthur B. and Ruth (Hughes) Rohwer, was born May 7, 1921, on the family farm near Archer. Iowa. She received her education in Archer. Iowa, schools graduating from Archer High School She worked in the communication business living in various places before moving to Des Moines She worked for Northwest Bell Telephone Company for 35 years before retiring in 1978 She remained in her home in Des Moines following her retirement and spent some time in Primghar caring for her mother until her death. In 1999 she moved to the Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn to be nearer her family. She passed away at Prairie View on Wednesday, December 17, 2003, reaching the age of 82 years. 7 months and 10 days.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina and a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states as well as many foreign countries.

Mae is survived by one sister and her husband, Jean and Jim Negus of Newton. Iowa and one brother and his wife, Bernard and Leah Rohwer of Sanborn; four sisters-in-law: Arlene Rohwer of Milford, Iowa, Dorothy Youngblom of Fairfax, MN, Pat Rohwer of Paullina, and Pat Houston of Whitney TX. also 23 nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers: George, and Alvin. Merrill and Jim.
