THOMAS L. STONEKING
November 07, 1927 - April 06, 2009Thomas L. Stoneking, 81, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Monday. April 6, 2009, at the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center.
Tommy was born November 7, 1927, in Johnson County, Iowa. His adoptive parents were Walter and Mildred Stelck [sic]. He attended school at Wayne County Country School #24 in Nebraska and also at Paullina, Iowa. He worked as a farm hand and drove semi and gravel trucks for many years for several contractors, retiring in 1985.
He enjoyed watching TV and visiting with friends. He was always proud of the car he drove and enjoyed touring the county.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Robert Gathman.
He is survived by one sister, Doris Gathman, four nieces, one nephew and their families.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 17, 2009, at 3:30 p.m. at the Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa. It was Tommy's wish to be cremated. There will be no visitation.
