Clara Egdorf Puhrmann

Mrs. Henry Puhrmann, born Clara Egdorf, April 9, 1893, near Granville, Iowa, was the daughter of August and Augusta Zoch Egdorf. She lived with her parents on a farm and attended the Baker Township School near her home.

On December 15, 1911 she was united in marriage to Henry Puhrmann, at Paullina. They made their home on a farm near Paullina until 1929, when they moved to the Sutherland community. They farmed here until moving into town in 1935. They were the parents of six children, two of whom died in infancy.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and a present member of Bethel Lutheran Church at Sutherland. She had been a member of Bethel Helping Hand for many years. However, in recent years she had been confined to her home and since 1973 at Millie's Rest Home in Sutherland.

She passed away on February 20, 1975, at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 11 days. Preceding her in death were her parents, two children, four brothers, and her husband, who died in 1966.

Left to cherish hen memory are her four children: Earl of Eden Valley, Minnesota, Hazel (Mrs. Gaylord Riedemann) of Primghar, Esther, (Mrs. Harley Feldotto), Grace (Mrs. Leonard Ewoldt) of Spencer; eleven grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, a sister, Lucy Welch of Harris, Iowa; two brothers, Edward Egdorf of Detroit, Michigan, and Charles Egdorf of Round Lake, Minnesota, as well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and her many friends.
