William Koehlmoos, 76 Dies Suddenly; Services Today

William Koehlmoos, who has farmed in the Germantown community most of his life, died suddenly Monday afternoon at Primghar. He was 76. Mr. and Mrs. Koehlmoos had gone to the offices of Drs. Getty and Smith. Seated briefly in the waiting room of the offices he passed away instantly.

Funeral services are to be held today (Thursday) at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Germantown, with the Rev. Armin Prowatzke officiating. Gaudian Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The deceased is survived by his widow, Matha [sic], two daughters, Lorraine (Mrs. Derald Grothaus) of Primghar, Roverda (Mrs. Ronnie Cullison) of Paullina and four sons, Elroy of Gaza, Gerhardt of Denver, Colo., Orrie of Indianola and Leland at home.

William H. Koehlmoos 1891 - 1967

William H. Koehlmoos, son of Ehler Koehlmoos and Mary nee Brooks, was born on February 13, 1891, near Germantown, Iowa. On March 2, 1891 he was baptized and on March 27, 1904 he was confirmed in St. John Lutheran Church, Germantown. Following his Christian day school education he spent several years farming.

In June of 1918 he enlisted in the United States army. In the fall of that year, he left the United States to serve with the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) forces in France.

He was united in marriage to Metha Richter on December 28, 1919; to this union six children were born. William and his wife spent 37 years living on their present farm. On November 6, 1967 he went to see his physician and while there was suddenly stricken and passed away at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 23 days. Funeral services were held at St. John Lutheran Church, November 9, 1967 with the Rev. Armin Prowatzke officiating. Interment was at St. John Cemetery.

He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, Meta; three sons, Elroy of Gaza, Leland at home, Orrie of Indianola, and two daughters, Lorraine, Mrs. Darrell Grothaus of Primghar, and Roverda, Mrs. Ronnie Cullison of Paullina. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and two brothers, Emil and Ed. His parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. A son, Gerhardt, lost his life in a car accident November 13.
