Mrs. Maria Koehlmoos

Mrs. Maria Koehlmoos was born September 4 1865, in Hannover, Germany. At an early age she immigrated to America making her home near Chicago, Illinois. Here she entered matrimony with Mr. Ehler Koehlmoos. Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Koehlmoos came to O'Brien County and settled on a farm in Caledonia Township. Mrs. Koehlmoos' marriage was blessed with five sons and three daughters, all of whom survive her. After the death of Mr. Koehlmoos, in November 1923, Mrs. Koehlmoos remained on the homestead near Germantown with her children.

In December of last year, Mrs. Koehlmoos suffered a stroke of apoplexy from which she recovered in so far that she was able to be up and around. She had however lost her speech and other evil effects of the stroke were noticeable. Instead of improving, her condition became gradually worse. On Wednesday, July 25, a severe attack robbed her of consciousness and without regaining it, she peacefully passed away Saturday forenoon. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon. After a brief service in the home of the deceased, her pastor preached a funeral sermon in the Lutheran Church at Germantown, choosing as his text 2 Timothy 4, 18. The remains were laid to rest on the Lutheran cemetery at Germantown. Her age was 62 years. 10 months, and 24 days. She is mourned by five sons, three daughters, two sons-ln-law, three daughters-in-law, 14 grandchildren, two brothers, three sisters, and other relatives and friends.

Those from a distance to attend the funeral are: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Koehlmoos, Mr. Herman Koehlmoos, Mrs. George Daum, Mrs. Henry Studtman, Mrs. Henry Koehlmoos, Mrs. Earnest Gemelke and daughters, Anita and Viola of Pilger, Nebraska; Mrs. Fred Pflueger of Wisner, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kuhlman and son of Ruthton, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knicker of Hartley.
