Mr. Tim Dykstra, age 93, of Orange City, passed away Sunday, October 31, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital Long Term Care Facility.

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, November 3, at 11:00 am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Timothy Ouwinga will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon. There will be a family prayer service on Wednesday, at 9:15 am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. Visitation will be after 2:00pm Tuesday, with the family present from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, at the funeral home.

Tim was born on March 6,1911, at Oskaloosa, the son of Dick and Jennie (Meinders) Dykstra. He was raised in northwest Iowa, mostly the Sheldon area, and attended a country school near Hospers.

On December 23, 1936, he married Alice Postma at Sheldon. They farmed on several farms in northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota. In 1966, they moved into Orange City, where he was employed at the Vogel Paint Company. Mrs. Dykstra passed away on May 27,1997, in Orange City.

In 1996, Mr. Dykstra became a resident of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. On October 19 of this year, he transferred to the Orange City Municipal Hospital Long Term Care Facility.

He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where he had served on the consistory, and he participated in the Men's Bible Study. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and drinking coffee with his friends.

Survivors include his two sons and their wives, Richard C. and Norma Dykstra, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Donald and Albertha Dykstra, of Cerritos, California; two daughters and their husbands, Margaret an d Jim Van Polen, of Middleville, Michigan; and Linda and Stanley Korver, of Alton; twelve grandchildren, Mike, Mark, Brenda, Debbie, Bryan, and Jason Dykstra; Dawn Antonini, Tim and Brent Van Polen; Dave Korver, Mary Hettinga, and Bethany Korver; 23 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and a step-sister, Esther Hoekstra, of Edgerton, Minnesota.

In addition to his wife, Alice, he was preceded in death by his parents, Dick Dykstra and Jennie Dykstra Vander Pol; two sisters, Pauline Heritage Schoor and Jennie Haley; two step-brothers, Jerry and Gerrit Vander Pol; and a step-sister, Tillie Vander Pol.

Memorials may be directed to the Pioneer Memorial Home.
