Morris Marvin Fick, son of the late Henry C. Fick and Winona Fick, was born on January 6, 1929, at Hartley, Iowa.

He grew up in this community. In 1947, he graduated from the Hartley High School. He loved music and played in the concert and marching bands throughout his high school years.

At the age of seventeen, he began working at the Hartley Creamery where he was employed continuously with the exception of two years, 1950 until 1952, which he spent in the service of his country. While in the service, he spent seven months in the Fitzsimmons Veterans Hospital in Denver, Colorado.

On December 19, 1954, he was married at Rock Rapids to Bernadine Vander Gaast of Everly. They made Hartley their home. On April 27, 1957, their son, Steven Mark, was born.

Morris was a member of the American Legion Post No 288, and a member of the Hartley Fire Department. He was a life-long member of the First Methodist Church of Hartley.

He passed away suddenly on November 29, 1959, at the age of thirty. If he had lived until next January 6, he would have been 31 years old.

The immediate surviving relatives are his wife, Bernadine; their son, Steven Mark; his mother, Mrs. Winona Fick, all of Hartley; three brothers, Merle C. of Niles, Ohio, Dyke D. of Casa Grande, Arizona; and Norman R. of Spencer; and three sisters, Mavis (Mrs Robert Biau) of Minneapolis; Colleen (Mrs. Jack Ingrahm) of Hartley; and Julie (Mrs. Robert Bruinsma) of George; fifteen nephews and nieces; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Vander Gaast; six brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law, and a number of uncles and aunts.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry C. Fick, and one brother, Wayne.

Morris had a friendly, congenial disposition and was generally well-liked. He was a devoted son, father and husband, and will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the Foley Funeral Home and at 2:00 at the Hartley Methodist Church by the Reverend Raymond A. Roloff.

Interment was made in Pleasant View Cemetery.
