Mrs. Mourith Rasmussen
Following her fourth cerebral hemorrhage, Mrs. Mourith Rasmussen departed this life in her home last Sunday afternoon at the age of 44 years, 4 months, and 2 days. She suffered her first attack on March 18. Succeeding attacks occurred on April 1 and on April 15. On April 20, she was taken to a hospital in Iowa City. She returned last Thursday, May 10, apparently somewhat improved, only to suffer a fatal attack last Sunday.
Trenka Berna Dornbusch was born January 11, 1901 on a farm near Remsen, Iowa, where she was baptized in the Lutheran faith. At the age of 14 years she received the rite of confirmation in Zion Lutheran Church at Paullina.
On February 27, 1923, she was united in marriage with Mourith Rasmussen of Paullina, where they established their first residence and where the children of the family, three in number, were born. The family moved to Hartley in the spring of the year 1934.
The immediate surviving mourners are her beloved husband, three children, St. Leo Rasmussen of the 20th Bomber Command, stationed in India, who was given a furlough and was able to be at his mother's bedside when she passed away. Neil and Neola, children living at home; her mother, Mrs. Henderika Dornbusch of Paullina; two brothers, John Dornbusch of Hartley and Jarke Dornbusch of Memphis, Tennessee; one sister, Mrs. Bernice Bock, wife of Rev. Arthur Bock of Wolverton, Minnesota, and a large number of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Rasmussen was a devoted wife and mother, a loyal Lutheran, and an active member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Ladies' Aid. She also held membership in the Ladies' Auxiliary of the American Legion and in the local Band Mothers' Club.
The funeral service was held on Wednesday afternoon at the local Lutheran Church with Rev. A.C. Weber officiating. Interment was made in Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley.
