Funeral services held for Violet C. Rohlfsen

Funeral services for Violet C. Rohlfsen were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus, Iowa, with Rev. James Gruber officiating. Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Violet Christine Rohlfsen, the daughter of Ole and Belle (Thompson) Olson, was born October 20, 1919, in Liberty Township, Cherokee County, Iowa. She received her education in country school in Cherokee County and later graduated from Meriden High School in 1938.

On November 1, 1939, she was united in marriage to Glenn Rohlfsen in Cherokee, Iowa. After their marriage the couple farmed north of Marcus for 10 years until 1948 when they moved to a farm near Larrabee when they operated a gravel and excavating business. The couple moved into Cleghorn in 1977.

She passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2002, at the Dickinson Memorial Hospital in Spirit Lake, Iowa, reaching the age of 82 years, 11 months and 8 days.

She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus, the Ladies Aid of the Church and for a number of years taught Sunday School. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking and doing crafts.

Violet leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Glenn of Cleghorn; two daughters and their husbands: Diana and Charles Foster and Louise and Larry McCullough, all of Storm Lake; one son and his wife, Mike and Amy Rohlfsen of Le Mars; four grandchildren: Jennifer McCullough of West Des Moines, Iowa, Staci and her husband, Gabe Morgan of Le Mars, Chad Rohlfsen of Alta and Bo Rohlfsen of Ames; two greatgrandchildren: Ashton and Sierra Thompson of Paullina; also a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and one brother.
