Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 5, at the Methodist church in Gaza for Mary Rosetta Lago, long time resident of near Gaza, with Rev, Paul Brown in charge of services. Pallbearers were Ronald Clark, Harold Conn, Cleve Fisch, Wm. Johnson, Wm. Sickelka and Frank Dau. Flowers were handles by Mr.. and Mrs. Lund. Interment was in Highland township cemetery.

Mary Rosetta Lago, daughter of Paul and Elizabeth Lago, was born on a farm of her father near Gaza on December 17, 1886 and lived there all the years of her life. After the death of her parents, Rosetta made a home for her brother, Arthur, who with the help of Leslie Wood, continued farming the home place.

Her sudden, unexpected death came as a great shock to the entire community. In recent months she had apparently minor illnesses, but not until she entered the Hartley hospital for observation last Wednesday, was her trouble diagnosed as heart failure. She died there on Saturday, July 2, following a series of heart attacks. She came of pioneer stock and in her home was trained in the principles of industry, thrift and honesty. When the Congregational church was established in Gaza in 1897, she, with the rest of the Lago family became a charter member. All through the years which saw many changes in the Gaza church leadership, Rosetta was a faithful worker in the church, Ladies Aid and Sunday School.

She was liberal with her time and gifts not only in her own church and community but she sent gifts to needy persons overseas, who knew her as a benefactor.

Rosetta was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother. Survivors are two brothers, Arthur of Gaza, J.C. (Leon) of Lake Park, one sister Lena of Sioux City, four nephews and four nieces.
