Mrs. Eliza MaComb was born November 2, 1845, the daughter of Andrew and Margaret McCauley, at Dundonald, County Down, Ireland. She was the eldest in a family of ten children.

In 1872, she married John MaComb in the Drumlee Presbyterian church. Two years later, when their first child was but a year old, they came to the United States. For a few years they made their home in Pittsburgh, then came west to Benton County, Iowa. In 1888 they moved to O'Brien County, and to a farm on which they lived until they moved to Paullina in 1912. On November 1, 1924, Mrs. MaComb was bereaved of her husband.

Mrs. MaComb passed away from this world Monday morning, October 2nd. She was eighty-seven years of age, and just next month would have attained her eighty-eighth year. Two months ago, she suffered a fall at the home of her son in Brookings, South Dakota, and the shock of this accident, together with the natural weakness of her advancing age, caused her death.

Mrs. MaComb became a member of the Drumlee Presbyterian church as a girl. When she came to Paullina, she joined the Paullina Presbyterian church, and at the time of her death, was its oldest living member. During her lifetime she was a member of both the Ladies' Aid and the Missionary Society. Her chief interests ere always her home and her church.

Mrs. MaComb is survived by four brothers: David of Ireland, Andrew of Philadelphia; Joseph of Pittsburgh; Robert, of Lake Park, Iowa; and one sister: Miss Sarah Linn of Milwaukee.

Six of her seven children also survive, a daughter, Mrs. Mary Davis, having died in 1923; John and W.J. of Brookings, South Dakota; Fr. Thomas T. of Pasadena, California; Lee of Zephyrhills, Florida; Mrs. Ida Oldag of Paullina; and Mrs. Margaret McKinney of Cleghorn. There are living sixteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, six and many other relatives.
