Robbed of Another

Mr. and Mrs. B.C. Bouton of South Hartley have again followed a loved child to the City of the dead. This is the third child they have had taken from them this fall. The services were held in the Presbyterian church, which was beautifully decorated by the W.R.C. in the usual G.A.R. funeral style; Mr. Bouton being a member of the Post here.

The Rev. R.N. Toms, our new Presbyterian Minister, at special request of the deceased conducted the services, and the Rev. F.W. Ginn, M.E. Minister also very kindly assisted in the services at the church. It was with difficulty that the services could be carried out in the regular form as the mother of the deceased became so ill just as the service at the church commenced that the doctor had to be called, and for a time her case was a very critical one, but Dr. Elliott succeeded in removing to her home, but not until long after the body had been taken to the cemetery, and then she was carried out of the church in a chair to a special conveyance that was to take her home. Mr. J.R. Tibbets very kindly undertook to make the arrangements for the funeral and the nmany kind friends of Hartley came nobly forward in the funeral expenses, and the long line of carriages that formed the funeral procession that followed the remains to the Hartley cemetery showed that the citizens were heartily in sympathy with Mr. and Mrs. Bouton in their bereaved affliction.

The pall bearers were Tom Farley, Frank Kelly, Geo. McMorrow, Fred Maronda, Henry Maraonda, and Fred Jones.

Rev. R.N. Toms was unable to preach the funeral owing to the sad state of Mrs. Bouton, but has kindly consented to preach the funeral sermon on Sunday evening, April 9th, at the Presbyterian church. We are therefore unable to publish the full details this week.

Thurlow Bouton was born in Green County, Wisconsin, May 24, 1877, died in Hartley, Iowa, March 24, 1895, age 17 year and 8 months.
