Last Rites Held for Pearl Negus

Saturday, July 14, services ere held in memory of Pearl Negus at the Hartley United Methodist Church with Rev. William Tomlinson officiating. Burial was at the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley. The Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Pearl Mae Negus, the daughter of Owen and Mildred Hakeman Cooper, was born October 21, 1903, at Sutherland, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Olin Negus on December 8, 1923 at Primghar, They farmed near Moneta until 1961 when they moved into Hartley. She was a member of the Moneta Service Club, the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, the Hospital Auxiliary and the Senior Citizens at Hartley, holding offices in all of the organizations.

She passed away at the Spencer Municipal Hospital on July 11, 1979 at the age of 75. Preceding her in death were her father, her husband in 1967, one great-granddaughter, and one brother, Clinton Cooper.

Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Mildred Cooper of Hartley; one son and wife, Darrell and Mary Negus; one daughter and her husband, Marlys and Glen Peters, all of Hartley; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
