Services to be Held Today for Herb Kniese

Funeral services will be held today. April 3 at 2 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church for Herbert Kniese of Paullina. Mr. Kniese passed away Monday, March 31 at the Baum Harmon Hospital in Primghar following a short illness He was 74 years of age.

Rev. Donald Johnson will officiate at the services with burial in the [West]Prairie View cemetery with arrangements under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

Herbert W. Kniese, the son of Otto and Elizabeth Kamfee Kniese, was born October 6. 1905 in O'Brien County. He was educated in rural schools in O'Brien County.

On September 18, 1929 he was united in marriage to Ruth Mews in the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. It was on December 28. 1930 he was confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran.

Herbert and Ruth farmed in O'Brien County until moving to Paullina in 1956. He continued to make his home in Paullina until his sudden passing on March 31, 1980, reaching the age of 74 years, 5 months and 25 days.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Ruth, two daughters, Darlene and son-in-law Donald Richter of Paullina, Lorna and son-in-law Bill Louscher of Emmetsburg, grandchildren. Donnette & Wilbur Meyer. David Richter and Lori, Kimberly, Michelle, and Michael Louscher, and one great grandchild, Nicholas Meyer. Herbert is also survived by one sister. Mrs. Helen Stamer of Granville and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ernest, and two sisters, Margaret and Frieda.
