Mrs. Ben Harms Services Held

Came from Holland as an Infant; Resided in Sibley Since 1910

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in First Reformed Church for Mrs. Ben Harms, a resident here for many years, who passed away in the Osceola hospital July 9, at the age of 73.

During the past few years of her life she had been confined to her home with arthritis, but death came as the result of the widesperad malignancy from which she had suffered during the past six months.

Her pastor, the Rev. G. Docter, conducted the services at 2 pm and burial was in the Sibley cemetery.

Born in the Netherlands on June 5, 1881, she came to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Williamson, when she was six months old. For a while they lived in the Arlington, Iowa, area. From there her parents moved to Ritter.

On March 22, 1904, she was united in marriage at Ritter, to Mr. Ben Harms. Mr. and Mrs. Harms were the parents of two children.

After residing in the Archer vicinity for a year, Mr. and Mrs. Harms moved to a farm near Ritter, where they lived for five years. In 1910 they came to this vicinity and lived on their farm southwest of Sibley until 1925, when they moved to their home two miles east of Sibley.

They have worshipped with First Reformed Church since its organization in Sibley. Mrs. Harms made confession of her faith with her husband in this church in 1921, and has taught the Primary Sunday school class for a number of years.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Mr. Ben Harms, two daughters, Ida, Mrs. Bert Ver Steeg, and Alice, Mrs. Pet Feldkamp, both of Sibley, three grandchildren and two sisters. Her sisters are Mrs. Herman Wessels of Ritter, Mrs. Leonard Struyk of Sheldon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, and three brothers.
