Services For Elfrieda Straub
Services for Elfrieda [sic-Elfreda nee Peters] Straub were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 17, at St. John's Lutheran Church at Germantown, with the Rev. Charles Kramer officiating. Pallbearers were Weldon Ohlendorf, Charles Krekow, James Cave, Elmer Kroeger, Floyd Wallin and Verlon Peters. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Rader were in charge of flowers. "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art " were sung by the congregation with Mrs. Charles Brockmann at the organ.
The final resting place is at the [West] Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa. Arrangements were under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.
OBITUARY
Elfrieda Straub, the daughter of Henry and Frieda Peters, was born July 14, 1897, near Remsen, Iowa. She moved with her family to the Germantown area as a small girl and attended schools there.
On December 17, 1919, she was united in marriage to Bruard Straub at Germantown. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Germantown area for many years until retiring in 1970. In 1972, the couple moved into Paullina.
Bruard passed away on May 2, 1982, in Orange City. Elfrieda continued to make her home in Paullina until passing away on Saturday, April 14, 1984, reaching the age of 86 years, 9 months.
Elfrieda was baptized on May 16, 1899, at Remsen and later confirmed on March 31, 1912, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown and was a long time member of the church as well as the Ladies Aid of the Church.
Elfrieda is survived by her two daughters Mrs. Lyle (Fern) Schorg of Remsen and Mrs. Vernon (Leola) Meyer of Paullina; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Augusta Ohlendorf of Remsen, also a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two sisters and three brothers.
