Services for Mrs. Hellmann Held Here

Mrs. Chris Hellmann, age 63 died March 7 at the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City, following a month's critical illness. Funeral services were held Monday at the Gaudian Funeral home and Zion Lutheran church, with the Rev Mr. Paul H. Sohn officiating. Mrs. James Meyer, soloist, sang two numbers, "Be Still My Soul" and "I Know That My Redeemer Liveth" accompanied by Mrs. Marvin Fintel at the organ.

Pallbearers were Orlynn Strampe, James Lange, Wallace Tesch, Donald Richter, Eugene Schuknecht and Harold Appeldorn. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gabby and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Fiddelke were in charge of flowers. Burial was in the Prairie View cemetery.

Hattie Lange Hellmann, daughter of Charles Lange and Emma Dobbertin Lange, was born on Christmas Eve, 1894, at Paullina. Iowa. She was baptized in infancy by the pastor of the St. John Lutheran church in Germantown and after her confirmation in 1908, was received as a communicant member of the church.

On March 5, 1913 she was married to Christoph Hellmann. To them were born two children, Edward and Ellen (Mrs. Walter) Pauling, both of Paullina.

Mr. and Mrs. Hellmann lived on a farm in this community, until eleven years ago, when they moved to Paullina, where they have resided since. March 5, 1958 marked their 45th wedding anniversary.

Survivors, besides the husband and two children are two brothers, George and Elmer, five sisters, Mrs. Herman [Marie, Mary] Appeldorn of Pipestone, Minn., Mrs. Bertha Schultz, Mrs. Earl [Clara] Pauling, Mrs. Ed [Minnie] Tesch, and Mrs. Rosie Richter, also seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
