1894 - John William Simm - 1964

John William Simm, a son of William Simm and May nee Levee was born on November 16, 1895 on a farm near Paullina. He received his education in the rural school system, later attending the Paullina High School. He then spent some time working for his father on the farm.

During the first World War he served in the armed forces with the U. S. Army. He joined the AEF to serve with the 27th Division in France.

It was in January of 1918 he was united in marriage to Gertrude Reeves. To them three children were born.

The deceased was very active in the affairs of the Saddle Club and the American Legion and was a member of the Grace Methodist Church. It was on Friday of last week he met his untimely death at the age of 68 years 11 months and 27 days.

He is survived by his family, namely Darold of Willow River, Minnesota, William of Paullina, and Edris (Mrs. Robert Zimmermann) of Walnut, Iowa. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, two brothers Richard and James of Paullina, two sisters, Edna (Mrs. Marlow Frisbee of Paullina) and Ann, (Mrs. Carl Peterson of Storm Lake) and a host of friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and sisters.
