Wednesday Morning Services for Barney Geurts

Barend (Barney) Guerts, the son of Hendrek and Rengertje Mosthagen Geurts, was born at Nykerk, Holland on August 11, 1895. He came to America on May 22, 1920, and had liveed in this country since that time.

He was a farmer and had lived at Sheldon, Spencer, and Everly before moving to the Hartley area in 1932. He retired to town in 1956.

Preceding him in death were five sisters and one brother. Survivors include two nieces and one nephew; Mrs. Willaim (Bep) Buddingh of Hartley, Mrs. W. A. (Ali) Wikselaar of Marietta, Ohio, and Roger Van Doren of Hemet, California, as well as grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and his many friends.

Services were held on Wednesday, October 2 at 10 am at the Baumgarten Funeral Home in Hartley. Rev. Bernard Sayler officiated.

Honorary casket bearers were H.C. Wieditz, August Brand, Stan Warburton, H.G. Witt, Art Linder, and Frank Wille. Casket bearers were Lyle Shinkle, Curt Bobolz, Ray Reinke, Glenn Reinke, Will Huston, and Otto Liedtke.

Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley.
