Mrs. Louise Schuknecht, the daughter of Joseph Awe and his wife, Friederike, nee Schultz, was born an Brunswick, Lake County, Indian on May 2, 1875. In 1884, she came with her parents to O'Brien County, Iowa, where the family settled on a farm in Caledonia Township, a few miles west of Paullina. She was taken into Communicant mebership of the Lutheran Church at Saint John Lutheran Church of Germantown by the rite of confirmation administered to Pastor E. Zuerrer.

On November 20, 1892, she entered into the holy state of matrimony with Charles Kay, the Pastor E. E. Zuerrer officiating at the ceremony. This union was blessed with three children, one daughter and two sons. Her husband was taken from her by death on October 19, 1922.

She was married for the second time to John Schuknecht in the year 1923, Pastor A.H. Seeman conducting the ceremony. John Schuknecht deid July 16, 1932.

Since 1892, Mrs. Schuknecht waas a resident of Paullina with the exception of nine years, during which time she lived in Minnesota. During the last years of her life, she lived with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kay, who cared for her in her declining days.

She departed this life last Friday evening, April 14th. Her sojourn in this vale of tears was 68 years, 11 months and 12 days.

She leaves to mourn her parting: her sons Edward and Harry, her daughter having preceded her in death; three brothers: John, Edward, and Fred Awe; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild and seven step-children.

Funeral services were held last Monday afternoon from Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment was made at the Paullina cemetery. Pastor Martin Peters officiated.
