Ted Witt Buried At Calumet

Funeral rites for Ted Witt, well known farmer near Gaza were held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Seivert funeral home with Rev. Marvin Williams, pastor of the Congregational church officiating. Internment was made in the Liberty Twp. cemetery at Calumet. Pall bearers were Julius Heuer, Alfred Chambers, Adolph Kruger, Wm. Steinbeck and John and Dewey Smidt.

The musical selections chosen were "Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere. "

Mathaus Ted Witt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Witt was born in Germany. June 15, 1899 and died at the local hospital at 1:00 o'clock last Tuesday morning, January 26th, at the age of 43 years, seven months and 11 days. Mr. Witt came to America with his parents when he was 15 years of age and has lived in O'Brien county the greater part of his brief life.

He was married to Annie Runge at Cherokee, February 18th, 1919. Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Elmer who farms the place they own in Dickinson County and Raymond who lives at home, and a daughter, Gladys who also lives at home and attends high school in Primghar.

Mr. Witt had been in poor health the last few years although he was able to do his farm work with the help of his son who lived at home until the Friday night preceding his death when he was stricken with apoplexy. He was immediately taken to the hospital but lived only four days.

Mr. Witt was a progressive farmer and was highly respected by his neighbors and friends who will greatly miss him.

Besides his immediate family he leaves to mourn his loss, two brothers August of Sioux City and Henry of Gaza, two sisters, Mrs. Jesse Ware of Larrabee and Mrs. John Peterson of Harris, and half-brother, William Bahr of Cherokee.
