Earl Lee Lange, the son of Edward and Martha Wrede Lange, was born August 9, 1927 at Paullina, Iowa. He passed away at Sr. Luke's hospital in Davenport, Iowa, on October 31, 1955, at the age of 28 yeears, 2 months and 21 days.

His early boyhood days were spent near Paullina, where he attended the country schools near his home. It was there, too, that he was baptized into the Lutheran faith on September 11, 1927, and confirmed in May of 1941, both rites being performed by the Rev. John Hartmeister. At the age of 14 years, he came with his parents to the Sutherland community and had resided here since that time.

He became a member of the Bethel Lutheran church, and was an active participant in its Lutheran Laymen's Leage, Voters Assembly, and Concordia League. He attended high school in Sutherland and was a member of the 1945 graduating class.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II and became a member of the Legion Post 152 at Sutherland. He served as Post Commander during the 1954-1955 term of office.

He was united in marriage to Earleen Zaiser on June 2, 1948, the ceremony in ethel Lutheran church being performed by Rev. E.E. Greene. To this union were born two sons, Gregory and Noel. The family lived in Sutherland, where Earl was employed at the Farmes Co-op Elevator for six years.

Preceding him in death was a twin brother [Merle], who passed away at the age of 14 months, as well as a sister who died in infancy.

Besides his wife and sons, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lange of Sutherland, three sisters: Mrs. Alfred Ricker of Paullina, Mrs. Sike Parizek of Chicago, and Mrs. Jack Ault, of Baltimore, Maryland; one brother, Harold Lange of Paullina, and their families, his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Zaiser of Sutherland, and several aunts and uncles, cousins, and other relatives.
