SHELDON, Iowa -- Keith A. Dykstra, 46, of Sheldon passed away Friday, March 31, 2006, near Cooke City, Mont. from injuries suffered in a snowmobiling accident.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Reformed Church in Sheldon, with the Rev. David Brower officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Keith Alan Dykstra, the son of Maynard and Edna (Den Hartog) Dykstra, was born Dec. 8, 1959, in Sheldon. He was raised on a farm south of Sheldon. He received his education in Sheldon schools and graduated from Sheldon High School. He went on to attend Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, and NCC in Sheldon, where he graduated as a computer programmer.

On Sept. 5, 1980, he was united in marriage with Donna De Hoogh in Sheldon. After their marriage, he was employed at Ritter Elevator in Ritter, Iowa, Plainview Hog in Sioux City and later lived in Chicago, Ill., where he was employed at Continental Grain Company. The couple returned to Sheldon in 1989, where he operated his own hog operation.

He was a member of First Reformed Church, where he taught Sunday school, catechism and was a deacon. He served on the board of Farmer Mutual Insurance and various other boards. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and was known as a handyman. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 25 years, Donna; four children, Blake, Jordan, Bryant and Kayla, all of Sheldon; his mother, Edna Dykstra of Sheldon; a sister and her husband, Mavis and Jim Aberson of Orange City, Iowa; a brother and his wife, Mark and Chris Dykstra of Hospers, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Minnie De Hoogh of Sheldon; a sister-in-law and her husband, Alvera and David Kidder of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a brother-in-law and his wife, Gary and Nadine De Hoogh of Sheldon; nieces, nephews and other relatives; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Maynard Dykstra.
