Mrs. Christina I. Peterson

Mrs. Christina Ida Peterson, daughter of Iver and Ellen Nelson Olson, was born July 6, 1883 at Mason City, Iowa. She passed away in Hartley at the home of her son, Dr. J.C. Peterson on Saturday, December 7, 1963, at the age of eighty years.

In 1891, when she was but eight years old, she lost both of her parents. She later attended High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

She was married to John Cleve Peterson on July 19, 1901 at Saint Louis Park, Minnesota. Shortly after they were married, they moved to Sanborn, Iowa, where they mad their home for fifty-five years.

Five sons were born to this union. In 1856, the moved to Hartley and after the death of her husband in January of 1962, she made her home with her children.

She was a member of the Hartley Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors of America, and a past member of the Legion Auxiliary of Sanborn.

Preceding her in death were he husband, one son, Cleve Benjamin in 1905; one brother, Nelson Olson in 1919, and one granddaughter, Jill, in 1952.

She is survived by four sons: Cecil V. of Everly, Ivan B. of Macon, Georgia; Dr. J.C. of Hartley; and Calvin C. of Unity, Wisconsin, and ten grandchildren, as well as other relatives and many friends.

Services were conducted from the Methodist Church, Hartley, Tuesday, December 10, with Rev. D.D. Samuelson officiating. Burial was made in Pleasant View Cemetery with the Baumgarte Funeral Home in charge.
