Services held for Lillie Schmith

Funeral services for Lillie Schmith were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at St John's Lutheran Church in Germantown, Iowa, with Rev. Steven Hayden officiating.
The congregational hymns were "How Great Thou Art" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus". The organist was Linda Brockmann. The casket bearers were Elwood Koehlmoos, Dudley Hinz, Harry Ebel, Lyle Koehlmoos, Fred Schuknecht and Jim Tesch. Interment was at Prairie View. Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Lillie Schmith, the daughter of Paul and Ida Kuester, was born April 30, 1912, in Caledonia Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. She received her education at St. John's Lutheran School in Germantown.

On January 6, 1932, she was united in marriage to Edwin Schmith at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown. After their marriage the couple farmed in the Germantown area for many years. The couple moved into Germantown where they made their home. Her husband preceded her in death on April 20, 1971.

After her husband's death, she moved into Paullina. In July of 1991, she moved to the Wide View Rest Home in Paullina. She passed away at Wide View on Saturday, February 27, 1999, reaching the age of 86 years, 10 months and 24 days.

She was baptized on May 19, 1912, and later confirmed on May 28, 1926, and was a life-long member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown.

Lillie is survived by two sisters-in-law, Esther Schmith of Paullina and Amy Schmith of George, Iowa; also many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother.
