laid to rest
A family service at 9:30 a.m. and funeral services at 11:00 a.m. were held Friday, Feb.11 at Gaudian Funeral Home for Clay Edwards who died at Baum-Harmon Memorial Hospital Feb. 8, following a short illness. Rev. John Saxton
officiated at both services.
Pallbearers were Wayne Nelson, Arnold Charlton, Dean Williams, Ed Robinson, Warren Mulder and
Ronald Aldred. "How Great Thou Art, " and "Beyond the Sunset were sung by Mrs. Dale Oraun and Mrs. Orville Schoening, accompanied by Mrs. Don Kammerer.
Chauffeurs were Robert Nicholson, Alvin Petersen and C. E. Jensen.
Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery,
Primghar.
Clay Edwards was born Aug. 20, 1914 in O'Brien County, la. He graduated from Primghar High
School.
On Dec. 31, 1936 he married Eloise McCauley at Primghar. The couple farmed in the area for five years, and later he was employed at the elevator in Archer.
Mr. Edwards purchased the elevator at Primghar in 1956 in partnership with Bob Nicholson
and managed the Nicholson and Edwards Grain Company until his death.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Congregational for many years and served as a
councilman since Nov . 7, 1958.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise; a son
William; his mother, Mrs. Sally Edwards;
sisters, Mrs. Gordon (Ann) Rosecrans and Mrs.
Retha Smidt all of Primghar; Mrs. Ruby Vannorsdel of Cherokee; Mrs. Georgia Eckdale of Honolulu, Hawaii; Miss Betty Edwards of Chicago, HI.; and three grandsons.
