1896 - LOUIS WARNKE -1941

Louis A. Warnke was the youngest son of Fred Warnke and Louise Schultz Warnke, born April 12, 1896, on the homestead of the family, where he also lived and labored. He was baptized at Germantown but confirmed at Paullina by the Rev. A. H. Semmann,

November 24, 1920, he was married to Miss Ella Kruse, now his surviving widow. Their married life did not quite reach 21 years. Three daughters were born to them, Lucy Jane, Flora May and Ann Lorraine. All of them are at home yet, except for short periods of work or study.

Only last week Mr. Warnke was stricken by a violent illness and on Wednesday of last week was taken to the hospital In Le Mars. All that medical skill and tender nursing could do for him was done but there was no help for his body. He succumbed Friday evening, November 14, 1941, at the age of 45 years seven months and two days. His earthly remains were laid to rest in Prairie View cemetery on Monday, November 17, 1941. The funeral service was held in Zion Lutheran church of which Mr. Warnke was a member. The text of the sermon was Isa. 54, 4-10. A quartet sang two hymns. The church was filled to capacity.

He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Theo. Baumann of Paullina, Mrs. Otto Beerman of Lamberton. Minn., and Mrs. Henry Dressen of Pipestone; one brother, Alfred of Pipestone; one nephew; eight nieces and three aunts besides a host of other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward, in 1918.

Pallbearers were Andrew Petersen, Raymond Hatterman, Elmer Rohlfsen, Wm. Schoof. Herman Hatterman and Fred Grosshauser.
