John Kruse Services at Zion Church

Funeral services for John F. Kruse, 87, were held Thursday afternoon at the Zion Lutheran Church here. The Rev. Paul Sohn officiated. Mrs. James Meyer sang "Heaven is My Home" and "Asleep in Jesus" accompanied by Mrs. Marvin Fintel. Pallbearers were Paul Brockmann, Rodney Brockmann, Ronald Kruse, James Kruse, Emil Kamrath and Lester Thoms. In charge of the flowers were Mr. and Mrs. John Beermann.

Johannes F. Kruse was born August 26, 1871 to Claus Kruse and Henrietta Ladewig at Eckenfoerde, Schleswig, Holstein, Germany.

When a young man of 14 he came to this country and settled near Manning, where he also furthered his education. In 1900 he was married to Emma Mehrens and he and Mrs., Kruse farmed in Cherokee and O'Brien counties for a number of years, retiring from the farm and moved to Paullina in 1928. Mrs. Kruse died in 1936 and he was married later to Mrs. Minnie Wilde.

Mr. Kruse was in comparatively good health until surgery in Sioux City in April and he was later moved to Millie's Nursing Home in Sutherland where he died June 1, 1959.

Survivors are his widow, Minnie, two daughters, Ella, Mrs. William Lange and Rosetta, Mrs. Edgar Brockmann and one son, Truman, all of Paullina: one half-sister, Celia, in Germany, ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery.
