Diedrich Fredrick Steinbeck passed away Sunday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Chris Meiske, following a brief illness of only a few days duration.

He was born in Hanover, Germany December 30, 1848. He was married in 1870, and in 1882 he and his wife came to America. Six children are left: William Steinbeck of Primghar; Herman Steinbeck, Lake Park, Dick Steinbeck, and Mrs. Henry Fredrickson of Everly. Henry Steinbeck of Round Lake and Mrs. Chris Meiske of Hartley. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Re. W.H. Welch. Burial was made in Hartley cemetery by the side of his wife who passed away five years ago.
