Mrs. Ethel Kent passed away on November 8, 1962, at the Myrl Nursing Home in Primghar, Iowa.
Ethel Barker was born at Waverly, Iowa, on November 29, 1872. She was the fourth daughter of William F. and Helen Blunt Barker, the youngest of six children. She grew up with her brothers and sisters, attending Waverly schools, graduating in 1889.
On August 24, 1899, she was united in marriage with Mr. Macce E. Kent of Hendrick, Idaho. They lived in Hendrick several years, then moved to Centralia, Washington, where Mr. Kent was in businesss for twenty-five years. In 1928 they came back to live in Mason City, Iowa until 1932 when they came to Sanborn to live with her brother, E.C. Barker.
In September, 1942, her husband passed away and Mrs. Kent went to live with Mrs. Dave Shaw, later moving to the home of Mrs. Bessie McGranahan. The last few years have been spent in a nursing home.
Mrs. Kent is the last member of her immediate family, all of her brothers and sisters having preceded her in death. Mrs. Clara Hutchinson, Mrs. Jennie Foote, Mrs. Mary Barber, E.C. Barker, and W.H. Barker. Two nieces, one nephew and eight grand-nieces survive her.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday afternoon, November 11th at 2 o'clock p.m. at the Sanborn Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Harvey of the First Presybterian Church conducted the services. Interment was beside her husband in Roseland Cemetery
