Edna Emma Dora, nee Schierholz, Lux, the daughter of Edward and Adella Orthmann Schierholz, was born April 13, 1903, at Paullina, Iowa. She passed away December 20, 1969 at the Hartley Community Hospital after a lingering illness at the age of 66 years, 8 months, and 7 days.

Her childhood was spent in the Paullina and Sutherland area, at the age of 13 she and her family moved to the Hartley area where she has since resided. She attended rural schools near her childhood homes and graduated from Hartley High School.

She was united in marriage to William T. Lux on December 23, 1925 at her farm home south of Hartley. They moved into Hartley in 1960.

She was baptized and confirmed a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, and was also a member of the Dorcas Society, the Rebekah Lodge, Farm Bureau, Klio Club, and the Moneta Service Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, William; five children: Dale Lux, Mrs. Otto Wagner (Joyce), Mrs. Dan Shinkle (Janet) all of Hartley, Mrs. Donald Baumgarn (Adella) of Ocheyedan, and Mrs. Roy Van Houten (LaVonne) of Melvin; one brother, Alvin Schierholz of Hartley; 10 grandchildren: Steve, Kelley, Craig, Scott,Kay, Bruce, Gary, Douglas, Julie and Jeffrey; other relatives and her many friends.

Services were held from the Trinity United Church of Christ, Hartley, Iowa on Tuesday, December 23 at 1 pm, Reverent Bernard Sayler officiated. She is at rest in Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley, Iowa. Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
