Funeral services for Walter H. Richter were held February 27, 1993, at the Zion Lutheran church in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev. Stephen Kamprath officiating. Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina.
Walter H. Richter, the sone of Ernest and Gertrude Linnekugel Richter, was born March 25, 1907, in O'Brien County, Iowa near Germantown. He received his education in St. John's Lutheran School in Germantown.
On October 8, 1924, he was united in marriage to Nellie Jurgensen at her home in Calumet, Iowa. After their marriage they farmed in the Paullina area until his retirement in 1972, when he moved into Paullina. He had been a resident of the Wide View Rest Home in Paullina, where he passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 1993, reaching the age of 8 years, 10 months, and 8 days.
He was baptized and later confirmed on April 14, 1921 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown and was currently a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. He had served for nineteen years on the board of the Primghar Savings Bank and was past President of the O'Brien County Cattlemen's Association.
Walter leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Alice Mae and her husband, Donald Carnahan of Worthington, Minnesota; two sons: Les and his wife, Deannie of Granville, and Bob and his wife, Rita of Paullina; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; also two sisters: Mrs. Verna Kruse of Paullina and Mrs. Mabel Daniels of Benson, MN; also a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ray; a sister, Annie Straub; and infant twin brother and sister, Ella and Albert.
